I am PRISCA LUCAS from Mwanza Tanzania. A female seafarer working with Tanzania Shipping Company Limited (TASHICO). The company operates in three main lakes in Tanzania include Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika and Lake Nyasa. I work in Lake Victoria branch.

I have been part of maritime sector since 2008 and work in the company in various positions on board ships. I have been working in passengers, cargos and tug ships of such as MV. Victoria, MV. Umoja, MV. Serengeti, MV Clarias and Mt Ukerewe (Tug).

I found passion with maritime sector since I was schooling, when I went for study tour which attract and encouraged me a lot .

During my study tour, I found a lady called Capt. Rozi who explained to us about seafaring career and shipping business and make me to be more encouraged about maritime sector. Being with this high intension of shipping business I joined TASHICO (by then known as Marine Services Company, MSCL) and get more experience which made me to enjoy maritime sector more and this made me to pursued maritime studies at Dar-es-salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) in Tanzania. I enrolled Officer of Navigation Watch course to be able to start my professional journey of becoming a greater officer in the ship as well as Captain/Master.

I encourage young women not to give up when they involving in maritime sector hence I believe yes I know I can and I believe I will be greater master of the ship.
